| Chris M December 11, 2012 Nothing better than some good tips.Interviewing is such an ittnreseing topic, I`ve read some incredible articles on interviewing and being interviewed, and have applied various tactics over the past several years. I`ve had the pleasure of being on both sides of the equation and have had the opportunity to interview SEOs, developers and project managers, so I`ve had some good experience, yet I feel so far from being able to say I`m someone who can interview really well, or be interviewed really well.I wanted to share a few things that I have done over the years whilst I was still an employee. My track record is good, I have been interviewed by 14 companies over the past 6 years and only 1 didn`t offer me a position and that was because I didn`t want to travel. Here are my tips:1. Be energetic, enthusiastic and motivated. These three qualities radiate strength and interest, and they attract people towards you.2. In an interview, work hard on letting the interviewer know why they should hire you and what you will do for the company. When businesses hire, in most cases, they need to be able to see you as an asset and not an expense, explaining to the interviewer why they should hire you and how you`ll make them money is a sure set way of landing a job. Don`t go on about what you`ve done or who you`ve worked for, that`s all fluff in my opinion.3. The last tip is a tricky one, but it works a charm (well, for me at least): Talk to the interviewer as if he/she is on the same level as you (with respect of course). Both parties are humans, both parties deserve respect and if you can talk on eye-level, you command authority, which is attractive in a hire. Those three tips have helped me over the years and I`m sure they`ll help a lot of people along the way too. |
